Affiliate Membership

The United States Power Soccer Association has made great strides in promoting and branding our sport. Power Soccer has effectively changed lives, perceptions, and won the hearts of many, no matter the age or the gender. A great deal of our efforts have gone into developing teams across the county educating the public, and building relationships with mainstream soccer organizations, including referee training programs that have been taking place across the country. All of this is time intensive work and 100% volunteer.

As we continue on our journey to promote public awareness and athletic opportunities for power wheelchair users, we ask for your financial support through an Affiliate Membership. Your membership will provide financial support for our current programs, as well as the potential athletes and teams we hope to serve.

Please review the Affiliate Membership benefits listed below and join today! With your help we can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of power wheelchair users across our nation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join a team?
The first step to joining a team is first to see if there is a team in your area. You can find a listing of all the member teams on our website under Teams. Here you will also find email addresses for all the team contacts. Call the team contact to introduce your self let them know you are interested in playing soccer.

What if there is no team in my area?
If there is not currently a power soccer team in your area, check the website for current clinic opportunities that may be within driving distance to where you live. Clinics are taking place across the country on a monthly basis and we could be happy to collaborate with you in presenting a power soccer clinic in your area.

Where can I find equipment?
To play power soccer you must have a footguard for your chair. Some soccer organizations across the country have equipment you can use if you are part of the team. Check with the local organization. These guards are usually made of polycarbonate and will adjust to most chairs they have traditional footrests. If you choose, you can have a local metal shop design ad fabricate a guard for our chair. Be sure to download the specification for guards under Laws of the Game, located under downloads on the USPSA website. Another option is to purchase your guards from a reputable dealer such as PowerSoccerShop.com. They have custom guards available for most chairs.

Referees

The primary purposes of a USPSA referee are to ensure the safety of the players, to enforce the laws of the game, and to provide an atmosphere of fair play and sportsmanship (the 'Spirit of the Game').

The USPSA has been focused on the growth of the referee program since its inception. Referees must complete a 2-day classroom training, written test and be observed on the court prior to being approved to officiate sanctioned games. Referee experience is not required; if you have a passion for the power soccer game and you want to learn the laws of the game then all you need is to get certified!

A USPSA trained referee is required for a match to be sanctioned. Referees who have been approved should be sure to register with USPSA. A listing of approved referees is available from the deputy-vicepresident [at] powersoccerusa [dot] net. For more information about becoming an official USPSA referee or hosting a referee training program in your city, please contact deputy-vicepresident [at] powersoccerusa [dot] net.
