Conferences
There will be a restructure of competition starting in the 2010/2011 season. The USPSA is doing away with the familiar Division I and Division II system and adopting a new conference format. The teams who register for the 2010/2011 season will be divided into conferences. The new conferences will be created based on the teams' finishing position. Teams will be seeded by their finishing position in the 2009-2010 National Tournament and overall record for the season. For example, the top 10 Division I teams that register for conference play will be in the first conference. The balance of the Division I teams who register will be placed in the next conference until all the Division I teams have been assigned. The top 10 Division II teams will be assigned to fill the conference through the next conference and so on until all the Division II teams who register for conference play have been assigned. The USPSA Tournament Selection Committee will review each team and inform all the teams of which conference they are placed after registration has been completed.
Once the new conferences are created, each team will be required to play at least 12 games in order to qualify for the Conference Cup. Instead of the traditional National Tournament, each conference will now hold a Conference Cup Tournament to determine a conference champion. The tournaments will be held at the end of the season starting in June; all Conference Cup Championships will be completed by July 31. Tournament sites are to be determined, and interested host cities should download the Conference Cup Bid Packet. This packet will be available on the Downloads page soon.
